For me, the appreciation of abstract art, has been a journey of acquired taste, moreso than an instant attraction. Overwhelmed with variety, and unclear on any sense of preferred direction, abstract artworks initially represented an intimidating and confusing expression of creativity that I failed to grasp an affinity for. 

Yet it was through the lens of impressionism where abstract works finally started to make sense for me, and spark a deep emotional connection. Viewing nature’s beauty, through an abstract aperture, allowed my eyes to see the world differently. Embracing radical simplicity, and letting the mind’s eye see what the creative subconscious desires. 

Where artists provide the beholder with a sense of direction, yet in many ways surrender the consumer’s ultimate destination to the whims of their own interpretation. 

Through the collection of art, I have been able to explore subjects of deep fascination to me — from the nature of morality and how this can be expressed in a visual medium, through to the power of colour to impact psychology and mood, and finally the role of intimacy in the nature of the human condition.
